What are the different types of Financial Advisors?
Answer: The financial services landscape is not one size fits all; volumes could be written about each model, type of advisor and brokerage term.
Only your personal financial circumstances, goals, and personality can help determine what type of advisor and firm would suit you best.
The most important piece to consider, however, is that no matter what kind of advisor you select, or which firm they are with, you must completely trust that person and feel confident that he or she will invest your money responsibly and act in your best interest at all times.
Choosing the person who will oversee your financial well-being is, in my opinion, as important as choosing your doctor(s).
How important are my long term versus short term financial plans?
Answer: Put your long term goals first.
How can I make the best of help from financial professionals?
Answer: Put together your own team of financial professionals.
That may include a career coach, tax accountant, financial planner, insurance agent, investment adviser, and estate planning attorney. Before you decide who should be on your team be sure to get referrals and check their backgrounds and credentials.
What are some ways I can achieve greater wealth?
Answer: There are three keys to greater wealth from investing: philosophy, strategy and discipline. The best returns go to those who have a sound investment philosophy, create a workable plan based in this belief, and diligently follow their plan. While these steps may seem easy, they are difficult in execution.
How can I get more motivated about saving?
Answer: Find your passion. While personal finance and money management may not be the most exciting topics to you,
I’m sure that improving your finances can help you achieve something that you are passionate about. Maybe it’s being able to buy your dream home, to retire earlier so you can travel the world or spend more time with your family.
Whatever it is, make sure you have a goal that inspires you and keep that dream at the top of your mind. It sounds cheesy but a lot of people find that taking a photo of something that represents their goal and placing it in a prominent place that they’re likely to see everyday can be very helpful.
For others, regular visualization is all the inspiration they need.
